The Collins Companies is embarking on a new Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
certified wood products venture in conjunction with GreenWood Tree Farms
(GWTF) and GreenWood Resources (GWR). Collins is building, and will operate,
a state-of-the-art sawmill, along with marketing the mill’s products.
GreenWood will manage the 35,000-acre FSC certified plantation. The mill,
named Collins Upper Columbia Mill, is now over 95% complete and commissioning
of the equipment is ongoing. Sawmill startup is scheduled for early October,
with kiln-dried lumber available starting in November.
Pacific Albus™ is a hardwood species ideal for a variety of uses including
moulding & millwork, cut stock, furniture applications, pallet stock,
recreational vehicle parts, landscape timbers and much more. Because it is
tree farm grown, the quality of the product is consistent, uniform, and — importantly,
always available. It is also certified under the principles and criteria
of the Forest Stewardship Council’s Plantation Standards.
Trial volumes of Pacific Albus are already available. Just contact us to
discuss your needs. We are now taking initial orders for October delivery
for green lumber and November-December delivery for kiln-dried lumber.
Here is a sample of products we will be initially making:
• 4/4 and 5/4 x RW x 6’ to 13’, Select and better, #1, #2 & #3 Common S2S lumber (NHLA grade)
• 5/4 x RWL Moulding grade, #2 Shop, #3 Shop & Shop outs (WWPA grade)
• Pallet shook, 1” x 4” & 6”; 2” x 4”; 3” x 4” x cut-to-length
• Cants, 4” x 4”; 4” x 6”; up to 7” x 9”; 6’ to 13’ long

All of GWTF’s Pacific Albus tree farm operations are
certified under the Principles
and Criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council’s Plantation Standards (SCS-
FM/COC-00034P) and managed by GWR.
All of our Pacific Albus tree farm operations are, or will be within the next few months, certified under the Principles and Criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council. Plantations shall be planned and managed in accordance with Principles and Criteria 1 - 9, and Principle 10 and its Criteria. While plantations can provide an array of social and economic benefits, and can contribute to satisfying the world’s needs for forest products, they should complement the management of, reduce pressures on, and promote the restoration and conservation of natural forests.
